How do I stop being jealous in a relationship?

Notice what triggers the jealousy, talk about it openly and work on your own security.
Jealousy is a common emotion, but acting on it through checking, accusing or controlling can damage trust. The goal is to understand what is behind the feeling and manage it, not to pretend it does not exist.
It often comes from insecurity, past hurt or fear of loss, rather than anything your partner has actually done.
Understand the trigger
Write down what sets it off and what thought comes with it. Ask whether it is based on facts or on fear.
Talk about it honestly
Share the feeling without blaming: "I felt insecure when that happened. Can we talk?" Avoid demanding passwords or monitoring them.
Build your own security
Invest in friends, hobbies and self-esteem. If jealousy is intense or constant, a counsellor can help.
