How do I recaulk or reseal a bathtub?
Remove all old sealant, clean and dry the gap, then apply fresh waterproof sealant.
Cracked or mouldy sealant lets water seep behind your bath, so it is worth replacing. The key to a good result is a clean, dry surface.
Fill the bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
Steps
Cut out the old sealant with a sealant remover or sharp tool, clean the gap with a mild cleaner and dry it fully. Apply masking tape either side, run a steady bead of sanitary silicone, smooth it with a wet finger or tool and remove the tape.
Let it cure
Leave the sealant to cure for the time on the packaging before using the shower or draining the bath.
