How do I fix a scratch on wooden furniture?
Match the repair to the depth: wax or marker for light scratches, filler for deep ones.
The right method depends on how deep the scratch is. Light surface marks are easy to hide, but deep gouges need filling.
Clean the area first with a soft cloth.
Light scratches
Rub with a wax crayon or touch-up marker that matches the wood colour. A little furniture polish can also help.
Deeper scratches
Fill with wood filler, let it dry, sand gently with the grain and colour or finish to match.
Dents
Place a damp cloth over the dent and heat it with an iron for a few seconds to swell the fibres. Test on a hidden spot first and keep the iron moving.
