How do I communicate better in a relationship?

Speak about your own feelings, listen without interrupting and raise issues early and calmly.
Good communication means saying what you feel and need clearly and kindly, and listening to understand rather than to win. Most arguments improve when both people feel heard.
Make a habit of talking about small issues early, before they build into resentment.
Use "I" statements
Say "I feel hurt when plans change last minute" instead of "You never care." This lowers defensiveness.
Listen properly
Put your phone down, let them finish and repeat back what you heard before replying.
Pick your timing
Avoid hard conversations when either of you is tired, hungry or angry. Agree to pause and return to it if things get heated.
