How do I spot a phishing email or scam message?
Be wary of urgency, unexpected links and requests for personal details, and go to the official site directly.
Phishing messages try to trick you into giving away passwords, money or personal details. They often pretend to come from a bank, delivery company or someone you know.
If a message feels urgent or too good to be true, stop and check.
Common warning signs
Urgent threats, unexpected attachments, mismatched sender addresses, spelling mistakes, generic greetings and links that do not match the real website.
What to do
Do not click the link. Go to the official website or app yourself, or call the organisation using a number you trust. Report the message to your email provider.
If you clicked
Change the affected passwords, turn on two-factor authentication and contact your bank if you shared financial details.
