How do I grow herbs indoors?

Give herbs bright light, good drainage and regular, light watering.
Many herbs grow well on a bright windowsill. Basil, mint, parsley, chives and thyme are good choices.
Light is the biggest challenge indoors, so choose the sunniest window.
Pots and soil
Use pots with drainage holes and a good potting mix. Mint is best kept in its own pot because it spreads.
Light and water
Aim for at least six hours of bright light, or use a grow light. Water when the top of the soil feels dry.
Harvesting
Pinch off tips regularly to encourage bushy growth and do not remove more than a third of the plant at once.
