How do I answer 'what are your strengths and weaknesses'?
Choose real strengths backed by examples, and a genuine weakness you are working on.
Interviewers want honesty and self-awareness. Give strengths that are relevant to the job and a weakness that is real but not critical to the role.
Always back your answers with examples.
Strengths
Pick two or three skills the job needs, such as problem-solving, communication or reliability, and give a short example of each.
Weakness
Choose something genuine, such as delegating or public speaking, and explain what you are doing to improve it.
What to avoid
Do not claim to have no weaknesses, and avoid cliché answers like "I work too hard". Do not choose a weakness that is essential for the job.
