Lesson 1

Configuring Your Physical Focus Zone

Optimise your environment to eliminate distractions and prime your brain for deep work sessions.

Your environment matters

Your workspace acts as a psychological anchor. If you work from the sofa, your brain associates that space with relaxation, making focus harder. Dedicate a specific desk to professional tasks. If space is tight, use a physical trigger like a specific lamp or noise-cancelling headphones that you only use during work hours.

The checklist for success

Ensure your chair provides lumbar support to prevent physical discomfort that breaks concentration. Keep your desk surface clear; remove non-essential items like laundry or loose papers. A cluttered desk creates a cluttered mind. Use a dedicated monitor stand to maintain eye level, reducing neck strain. Ensure natural light hits your desk from the side, not behind your screen, to prevent glare. By treating your home environment with the same rigour as a corporate office, you condition your mind to switch into high-performance mode automatically upon sitting down.
