Lesson 1
Audit Your Spending Patterns
Review your previous thirty days to find where money disappears unnoticed.
Review the numbers
Start by listing every transaction from the last month. Categorise them into 'essential' and 'discretionary'. Highlight anything recurring, like subscriptions you forgot, or transaction fees you ignored. The goal is to identify at least three areas where money leaks occur.
Spot the waste
Look for 'convenience' costs. Do you buy lunch daily instead of prepping? Are you paying for premium cable you rarely watch? Calculate the total cost for these habits over a year. Seeing the yearly total often provides the motivation to cut them.
Take immediate action
Cancel unused services today. If you have bank fees, switch to an account with no monthly charges. Move those small savings into a separate 'emergency' pot. Do not let money sit in your main account where it is too easy to spend. Aim to save just five pounds this week to build momentum.
