Lesson 1

Optimising Your Micro-Session

Master the art of high-intensity 15-minute language study blocks.

Use the 5-5-5 rule. Split your 15 minutes into three distinct buckets. Spend the first 5 minutes on vocabulary review using spaced repetition software like Anki. Focus strictly on the 500 most frequent words in your target language. In the next 5 minutes, listen to a native audio clip—a podcast or short video—while reading the transcript to train your ear. Finally, spend the last 5 minutes speaking aloud. Repeat phrases back or narrate what you are doing. Consistency is more important than duration. If you skip a day, do not try to double the time the next day; just reset. Treat these 15 minutes like a non-negotiable meeting. Use a timer to keep yourself focused and prevent drifting into social media. By confining your work to a small window, you increase your focus intensity and prevent burnout, which is the leading cause of students quitting early.
