Lesson 1
Mapping the Physical and Mental Rush
Understand how the body reacts during infatuation and why it masks critical personality traits.
The Biological Impulse
Infatuation often triggers a flood of dopamine, causing intense focus on the other person. You might experience 'tunnel vision' where you ignore warning signs or differences in values. ## The Pedestal Effect When in this state, we often project our own desires onto the other person, creating an idealised version of who they are. Ask yourself: am I attracted to who this person truly is, or to the version I have created in my head? To test this, write down three traits you dislike about them. If you cannot think of any, you are likely infatuated. Real love acknowledges imperfections and accepts them. If the relationship feels like a high-stakes rollercoaster with extreme highs and sudden, anxiety-ridden lows, you are experiencing an emotional dependency. True love provides a consistent, stable base. Focus on whether you feel calm when you are together, not just excited.
