Lesson 1
Identifying drain sources
Find which apps consume your power and manage their background activity settings effectively.
Check the stats
Navigate to your device settings under the 'Battery' or 'Power' menu. Review the list of applications sorted by energy usage over the last 24 hours. Look for apps that consume significant power while you are not using them.
Adjust permissions
For high-usage apps that are not essential, disable 'Background App Refresh' or 'Background Activity'. Navigate to your app permissions and restrict location services to 'While Using' rather than 'Always'. This simple change stops apps from pinging GPS satellites when in your pocket, which is a primary cause of rapid depletion. Perform this audit once a month, especially after updating your operating system. If you find social media apps leading the list, consider using them via your mobile browser instead, as this removes constant background data syncing and keeps your battery capacity stable over the long term.
