Lesson 1

Cleaning Shower Nozzles

Remove and soak showerheads to dissolve hard water mineral deposits.

The vinegar soak

Limescale is the number one enemy of water pressure. Unscrew the showerhead from the hose or arm. If it is stubborn, use a wrench with a cloth wrapped around the metal to prevent scratching the finish. Submerge the head in a bowl of white vinegar for at least three hours. For severe buildup, leave it overnight. Use a toothpick or an old toothbrush to poke and scrub any remaining debris out of the rubber nozzles. If you cannot remove the showerhead, fill a plastic bag with vinegar, wrap it tightly around the showerhead with a rubber band, and let it hang overnight. Rinse thoroughly with hot water before reattaching. Always wrap the pipe threads with fresh plumber's tape to ensure a watertight seal when you screw it back on.
