Lesson 1

Hardening Your Cloud Account Security

Protect your stored data by enforcing strict security measures beyond simple password management.

Enforcing 2FA The most important step is enabling two-factor authentication (2FA). Use an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy) rather than SMS, which can be intercepted. This ensures that even if someone steals your password, they cannot access your files. ## Reviewing Logins Most cloud providers have a 'Security' or 'Devices' tab. Check this regularly to see every device currently logged into your account. If you see a phone or computer you do not recognise, revoke its access immediately. ## Avoiding Common Mistakes Never share your login credentials with anyone, even family. Instead, use the 'Sharing' features built into the service to grant access to specific folders. This allows you to revoke access at any time without changing your password or compromising your primary account security. Maintaining these controls is vital to keep your private data secure.
